Independent weekly newspaper Chicago Reader nominated Bopology as one of 4 different local jazz groups to the Best of 2017.
Bopology was the Saturday night swing band at Joe’s Be bop cafe on Navy Pier from 1998-2005. While at the Be-Bop in 1999 they recorded live the CD Windy City Swing. With more 1940’s retro jump blues songs swing dancers had their practice CD.
Casino Swing, recorded in 2002, highlights rat pack songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Louie Prima. Reminiscent of the bold brassy sound of the early 1960’s, the gambling lure and money of Las Vegas
The band’s third CD, Chicago Swing, features a style and sound steeped in Big-Band and Jump-Blues delivered via jazz. Longevity is its own reward.
American Swing and Jazz is unique; this band brings them both to life. Fine musicianship moves people, both the dancer and the listener appreciate a swinging groove. Bopology prides itself on the authenticity of the music.
